Miley Cyrus: All Grown Up
When Miley Cyrus first appeared as Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel, she was every girl’s favorite teen sensation. People couldn’t get enough of America’s girl-next-door, and because of it, she quickly rose to stardom. Over the years, however, her image has changed into something that can be seen as reprimandable. From her hit single “Can’t be Tamed”, to her edgy haircut, Miley is showing the world that she’s definitely not a little girl anymore.
Miley Cyrus’ 2013 VMA performance sparked so much media attention that whoever didn’t get a chance to get a glimpse of the awards show had to see what all the talk was about. Twenty-year old Cyrus came out on stage in a metallic leotard accompanied by life sized dancing bears. The media compared the performance to something Lady Gaga would do. Then she joined Robin Thicke on stage in his hit song “Blurred Lines”. She stripped down to a nude undergarment, and let’s just say her choice of dance moves weren’t the most appropriate.
Not only were viewers shocked by Miley’s behavior, but many celebrities in the audience were stunned. I think it’s OK to grow up, but the pace in which you do it has to be controlled. I think Miley is setting the wrong example for young girls out there. Sometimes her behavior is a little too grown for her age. Even though they might not want it, teen stars automatically have a responsibility and an image they need to uphold. Slow down, Miley!
