Introducing Katlyn!

katlynHello! My name is Katlyn and I am extremely excited to be a part of the team here in the Center for Young Women’s Health at Boston Children’s Hospital. I am seventeen years old and currently a junior at Boston Latin Academy. I am a hardworking, friendly person who loves to meet new people and make new friends. Aside from school work I enjoy spending time with friends and family and I am also a captain of the cheerleading team during football season. Being part of a cheer team taught me that communication is key, especially when the safety of others depends on it. It also taught me how to be a good team leader and how to support my teammates.

I am a very ambitious person and I love to set big goals for myself because I believe if your dreams don’t scare you then maybe it’s time to dream a little bigger. The medical field as a whole has always peaked my interest, and one day I aspire to be part of it, particularly in Pediatrics. I want to be able to help people while also doing what I love every day! The human body is such an amazing thing and everyone is unique in their own way but there is always a way to help one another.

I had been looking for a job or internship in the medical field because since 9th grade, I knew I wanted to one day have a job in medicine. I was looking through my emails from my school guidance office when the subject of one in particular caught my eye. It read “Job Opportunity; BCH Center for Young Women’s Health” and I knew this was the perfect opportunity for me. I immediately responded to the email to get more information and as soon as I received the application, I filled it out and eagerly waited to hear back. Going into my first interview, I was a little nervous but I knew it would be worth it. Finally, after all the paperwork and logistics, I got the job.

Although I am just starting here, I am thrilled to be a part of the team. I hope to learn new skills as well as enhance the ones I already have. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
