14 Brands of Bottled Water Recalled
Twist the cap off and take a sip of refreshing water. I honestly don’t really give it much more thought. That was until now. According to the news, a California based company (with a plant in Pennsylvania) came forward and announced that they were recalling spring water that was bottled at their Pennsylvania plant between June 10th– June 18th of this month (2015) due to a possible E. coli scare. It turns out that this company distributes bottled water under 14 different brand names. Although there were no reported cases of an E. coli outbreak, the company decided to voluntarily recall the water out of concern for consumers. E. coli is a strong bacteria that can cause severe nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps and can lead to dehydration.
Now before you go and throw out every plastic water bottle in sight, here is a list of the brand names that were recalled:
- Acadia
- Acme
- Big Y
- Best Yet
- 7-Eleven
- Morning Fresh
- Niagara
- Nature’s Place
- Pricerite
- Shaws
- Shoprite
- Superchill
- Wegmans
- Western Beef Blue
Most stores have likely taken these products off of their shelves by now but if you happen to have any bottled water at home, it’s a good idea to check the brand and the date it was bottled. If you have a brand that was recalled, you can take it back to the store that you purchased it from. To be completely sure, you could always use filtered tap water and an environmentally-friendly reusable water bottle instead.
