My name is Maura, and I just finished my freshman year at Cornell University where I am majoring in Human Biology, Health and Society. Right now, I am on the pre-med track, but I am currently deciding whether or not I want to pursue a career as a physician or nurse practitioner. After college, I would like to work in pediatrics. I love playing and working with kids, but I am also very interested in health and nutrition. Finding a career that combines these two interests is my ultimate goal, and I am still working on figuring out how best to do so.
Outside of classes, I am on the club ski team and a nutrition research team. I have been skiing since I was very young and this has been a great way for me to stay active and meet friends in college. I would encourage anyone going to college to find a similar social club where they can have fun and meet new people in a non-classroom setting. My research lab studies the psychology of weight loss, among other topics in nutrition. After taking an introductory nutrition class my first semester, I realized that nutrition is something I am completely fascinated by and wanted to learn more about.
