Introducing Njoki

Hello everyone! My name is Njoki and I am 17 years old. I am a junior in high school and my favorite classes are AP Environmental Science, Biology, and AP Writing. I am on the track team and I am a part of Black Leaders Aspiring for Change and Knowledge (B.L.A.C.K) and Young Women of Color (Y.W.O.C.). B.L.A.C.K is an after school club that organizes events and shows focusing on various topics related to being black and Y.W.O.C. is an in-school program centered on advocating for and empowering black girls. After high school, I am thinking about becoming a doctor, focusing on a specialty that involves kids. Or I might go a different route and do something in the environmental science field, like be an environmental policy maker. Outside of school I like to spend time with my friends, watch movies/TV shows, take photos, and try new foods.

I decided to be a Peer Leader because I thought it was a great opportunity to provide health information to others, especially kids. I’ve always wanted to help those in need and I think it’s very important for people to know about their health and anything that could affect them. This job also focuses on improving communication between young adults and doctors, which I am excited to be involved in.

Thanks for Reading!
