CYWH Endometriosis Conference 2010
On Saturday, March 20th, 2010, the Center for Young Women’s Health (CYWH) and the Division of Gynecology at Children’s Hospital Boston hosted its 4th annual Endometriosis Conference for teens, family, and friends. The CYWH peer leaders Emily, Tynaya, and Dennisse arrived bright and early to check in 60 participants, including 27 teens and 33 parents and friends.
While most people were outside enjoying the beautiful spring weather, participants from all 6 New England states, New York, New Jersey, and Arizona attended lectures, workshops, and support groups (led by 6 faculty members and 4 guest speakers). One of the highlights of the day was Dr. Laufer’s lecture on “New Developments, Treatment, and Fertility”. Other informative sessions included a workshop on Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) facilitated by Kristin D’Orsi, a workshop on Endo, Nutrition, and Exercise hosted by Kendrin Sonneville, ScD, RD, LDN, and a workshop about Acupuncture, led by Barbara Parton, RN, Lic Ac. As usual, the support groups were well attended and provided both teens and parents time to connect with others who share similar concerns.
If you have endometriosis, you can register to participate in our free, monthly online chat moderated by a nurse educator. Also, feel free to check out our health guides about endometriosis.
