To Write Love On Her Arms Day

To Write Love On Her Arms Day 2009November 13, 2009 was “To Write Love on Her Arms” day. To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA) is “a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.”

I was invited to participate in this event through Facebook, but I kind of ignored it for a while and didn’t bother to read what it was about. But then I actually took the time to read about it and decided to participate in the cause. What happened next showed me that one person really can make a difference just by spreading awareness. I showed Emily and Amanda the “love” written on my arm and Emily was like, “Oh cute. You want to get that tattooed?” I responded: “Ummm no. it’s Write Love on Her Arms day.” They didn’t know what it was about, but I told them that TWLOHA is an organization that helps people with depression, addiction and recovery. Amanda thought it was really cool, so she looked it up online, and then she and Emily wrote love on their arms. We all had “love” written on our arms, so we took a picture of it to show you! So, it really is true-one person can spread awareness! Told you so!

I feel like this organization is amazing. It is very helpful to those who feel alone and for people who need some type of support. The organization believes “You were created to love and be loved. You were meant to live life in a relationship with other people, to know and be known. You need to know that your story is important and that you’re part of a bigger story. You need to know that your life matters”.
