Planking

PlankingI’m sure that many of you have heard about planking. If it’s all over my Facebook page and twitter account, it’s probably all over yours as well. When I first noticed that people were tweeting about it I had no idea what they were talking about, and I kind of had no interest in finding out either. However, since the tweets and the Facebook updates started increasing I decided to take a look at it.

Honestly, I don’t see why people are interested in this “lying down” game. The photos that I’ve seen make planking look stupid. I still don’t understand the excitement that some people get from it. People literally risk their lives to take a picture and upload it on social networking sites. What do they get from it… a couple of comments on Facebook? Woopty doo!

I read in an article which said that some people compare planking to an extreme sport, but that doesn’t make sense to me. Planking isn’t organized or sanctioned, and there are no rules or regulations. People just try to one-up each other by taking pictures in riskier places. I guess this might make some people feel like they’re better and cooler than others, but if you really do want to be “better” than other people; I suggest that you do something to better yourself. If you’re bored enough to be planking, find something else to do – get a job, join an extracurricular activity, etc. Do something other than trying to get yourself killed, because then you’ll literally be planking… forever.
