Introducing Oliver!

oliverHey!

My name is Oliver and I’m a Junior in high school. I was born in Boston and went to a variety of schools growing up. From Boston I moved to Paris for a year. After that I spent a couple years in South Florida before returning home. I am the youngest of four boys. I enjoy boxing, drawing, writing, and of course, netflix.

I heard about the peer leader program through a former peer leader who was a member of the Teen Arts Council with me at the Museum of Fine Arts. When he told me he was working with a program of teen peer leaders at Boston Children’s Hospital, I spent likely close to an hour interrogating him about the program. When a position opened up I could not wait to apply. I absolutely love the idea of a place for teenage voices to not only be heard but celebrated. My mother works in the medical field and has done work with teenage mothers and I can’t count the number of times she has come home beyond frustrated by the gap that exists between health care professionals and their teenage patients, as well as how uninformed many teens are about so many vital issues. This position looked like a good place to start to help bridge that gap and provide important information to those who need it.

I can’t wait to start sharing!
