Happy RD Day!
Do you know what today is (besides Wednesday, March 14th)? It’s Registered Dietitian Day! This day was created to increase the awareness of registered dietitians (RDs). RDs are food and nutrition experts who work throughout the community in hospitals, schools, public health clinics, nursing homes, fitness centers, food management, food industry, universities, in research, and in private practices.
There’s no better way to celebrate RD day than by eating an RD-approved meal. The dietary guidelines from the government recommend that we fill half our plates with fruits and vegetables at meals, so try to fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables at dinner tonight. While you’re at, try to meet this guideline every day of the year. Not only do fruits and vegetables taste great, eating lots of them can help you stay healthy now and can prevent lots of health problems later in life. If you don’t like many fruits and veggies, don’t give up. The more you try them, the more you’ll like them!
Have you ever thought about seeing an RD? If you’d like to improve your eating habits or if you need to make changes to the way you eat for health reasons, make an appointment with an RD. To find an RD near you, check out this link.
