Thank you High School

Hello all! I have reached a milestone in my life because I am now a high school senior about to graduate and preparing for college! During these milestone moments, I’d like to take some time to reflect and appreciate the people who helped me get where I am right now.

First, I thought of my parents who have supported me every step of the way. They have stuck by me during the hard parts, aka SAT’s, and the better times, opening admissions decisions. When I was younger, my parents would always tell me that their job is to provide me with the opportunities I need to succeed. After that, the hard work is up to me. I have worked hard through high school and I am rewarded now by committing to one of my top college choices. Second, I thought of all my teachers who helped me learn and grow in my school environment. They pushed me both academically and personally. I remember when I started out as a freshman and I was too shy to raise my hand, but I knew the answer. My teachers would call on me until I started raising my hand on my own. They also took the time to help me when I was struggling. Many of my teachers and mentors wrote me lovely letters of recommendation for college. This means a lot to me because it shows that these people wanted me to continue to thrive in the future. They helped me get to the next step, college! I also want to thank my peers at school who challenged my thinking and opened my eyes to new ideas.

Lastly, I started reminiscing of the good memories I shared with all of these amazing people. I remember crying tears of joy at school when my math teacher told me she had just gotten engaged. I remember cheering for my Biology teacher as she ran the Boston marathon. With my cheer team, I remember the countless bus rides and football games shouting and singing at the top of our lungs. I remember the senior night football game, and the football players bringing us flowers at competitions. With my parents and family, I remember getting accepted into colleges, and choosing Syracuse! I am excited to be moving forward and going to college in the fall, and I will take with me all these wonderful memories and lessons.
